Latto picks the greatest female MC of all time

In a recent interview appearance, Latto revealed who she deems to be the greatest female rap artist of all time. In recent years, several huge names have burst to the top, including Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, Ice Spice, Doja Cat and Megan Thee Stallion.

Earlier this week, Latto appeared on Complex’s GOAT Talk podcast alongside her sister Brooklyn Nikole. As per the show’s guidelines, the sisters discussed the artists they deem to be the best in the business across several categories.

When discussing the best female MC of all time, Brooklyn chimed in first without hesitation. “I’m not even gon’ lie, I have to say you,” she said, praising her sister. “Not even being biased. I listen to you the most. You be on my top.”

After a minute for consideration she ostensibly didn’t require, Latto chimed in. “The GOAT is Lil’ Kim, for sure,” she said. “Fashion icon, timeless music, timeless looks, gon’ forever be a staple, in not only rap, but female rap. And she the GOAT because she is a queen for real. Like off camera, she a queen… I love her, and she ‘Big Mama,’ too. It’s just a Big Mama thang.”

Elsewhere, Joe Budden picked out Latto as one of his favourite female rap artists, placing her above Doja Cat. During a recent episode of his podcast, the New Jersey rapper praised Latto’s magnificent work on the new album Sugar Honey Iced Tea. “First of all, Latto is one of the women that I support,” he said. “So I purchased this without listening to it at all. I have not gotten through the entire thing, but I went through the samples, and I heard what I needed to hear.”

Although he admired Latto hugely, he placed Nicki Minaj just above her in first place. “Nicki is number one for me, I might have to have [Latto] at number two,” he continued. “I think Latto will give Doja… [Doja] can’t rap like that. She may be a bigger artist, and a more well-rounded artist, but if I’m just talking about rapping, Doja can pack it up if Latto walk in the studio with her notebook.”

Usually, Cardi B might have found herself higher up Budden’s list. However, a recent rift between the pair supposedly entered his consciousness as he mentioned her name briefly. “I love Cardi, but I mean there’s the rumours, so I’ll leave that alone.” he said. “Latto is confirmed that to be her thing. She really loves Hip Hop, she’s one of those girls.”
