Men shot alongside Kodak Black demand $10.6 million from rapper

Two men are seeking millions of dollars from Kodak Black after being shot outside a party in 2022. The rapper, who was also injured, has been accused of initiating the altercation that led to gunshots being fired.

Adam Rahman and Mark Schaefer were set to begin their trial on August 18th, but Judge Tiana J Murillo scrapped the date during a court hearing in Los Angeles on August 6th. Their lawyer told the court that Kodak was the remaining defendant and should be found “in default.”

Murillo set an August 25th deadline to submit an updated request to meet the court’s standards. Rahman and Schaefer requested a $62million default judgment against Kodak in November, but the court denied them due to “inadequate” proof of damages.

They then asked for $10.6million, which was denied, but have now submitted another request with proof of medical bills.

“Kodak has never been served with any lawsuit from California,” the rapper’s lawyer, Bradford Cohen, told Rolling Stone. “He was never on notice of anything from California. I find it unusual that they’re attempting to sue the very person who was the most injured out of the individuals who got shot.”

In April, Rahman said, “I witnessed Kodak Black initiate the altercation with patrons outside of the subject location, which was the catalyst for the series of events that led to gun violence.” Shaefer also claimed he saw Kodak “initiate the altercation.”

The shooting took place outside a restaurant, The Nice Guy, in West Hollywood. Justin Bieber hosted the event, an afterparty for his Super Bowl Weekend performance at the Pacific Design Center. Guests reportedly included Drake, Leonardo DiCaprio, Lil Baby, Gunna, Khloe Kardashian, and Tobey Maguire.
