Kodak Black denies rumours he’s converted to Islam

Kodak Black has denied that he’s converted to Islam following rumours circulating social media. The speculation began last week after photos surfaced of the Florida rapper lying down on a prayer rug in what appeared to be a mosque.

However, he claimed that he only took the pictures at the request of celebrity dentist Saif Shere. “No disrespect to the Muslim community but I am Hebrew Israelite,” he wrote on Instagram. “I feel very disrespected by the blog and [Shere] for allowing them to run with a narrative that I’ve converted to Islam!! Simply him asking me personally to take a picture on his prayer rug.”

Hebrew Israelites are a religious movement claiming that African Americans are descendants of ancient Israelites. Kodak went on to state that he isn’t Muslim but means no disrespect to anyone.

“I always say I like the literature, but I ain’t no fucking Muslim,” he said. “Other n*ggas do that, turn Muslim out of nowhere. No disrespect to Muslims, no disrespect to any religion… I can’t tell you you’re wrong for being Christian. I can’t tell you you’re wrong for being Muslim. You can’t tell me I’m wrong for being Hebrew Israelite.”

He added, “I don’t understand why that post go viral. All y’all saw was a picture of me prostrating.” Kodak also called out fans for posting “certain little pictures to make a n*gga look crazy. I never said I’m Muslim.”

Kodak’s comments arrive shortly after he claimed that hip-hop was going to turn on him, similar to how Drake has allegedly been treated. “One day these n-*ggas gon’ try to do me like Drake,” he said. “Like they did Drake. Whole little hate Kodak campaign. Everybody who hate Kodak to the left.”

He continued, “You see these n*ggas campaigning and shit. But it’s love. They show like, I’m impressive. I’m a great friend to have and I ain’t friendly.”

Kodak released his latest project Gift for the Streets on Christmas Day. The 12-track body of work, released through Universal Music Group, included features from Lil Yachty, Juvenile, B.G., C-Murder, Rob49, Veeze and others.
