Killer Mike teams up with Young Thug and Dave Chappelle for ‘Run’

Killer Mike has returned with his first new solo track in a decade as the star makes an unlikely return enlisting the services of Young Thug and Dave Chappelle.

Taking a brief break from Run the Jewels, the rapper has decided to put out his own music once more, as he picks up from where 2012’s R.A.P. Music left off with the adrenalised volley of ‘Run’.

The rapper has used the track to illuminate several issues including Thug and Gunna’s current legal battles. As he told Good Morning America: “Hip-hop is not respected as an art because Black people in this country are not recognized as full human beings.”

Continuing: “If we allow the courts to prosecute these men based on characters they created and stories of pretend that they tell in rhyme, then next, they’ll be at your door.”

This notion forms the backstory of the music video directed by Adrian Villagomez, whereby fascists attempt to return the South to the Confederacy. Throughout the video, various messages including “Free YSL” can be seen as the south becomes an unfortunate battlefield.

You can check out the daring new video for ‘Run’ below, as the bold return to solo work receives a fittingly stark video.
