Killer Mike discovers fate over Grammys arrest
Killer Mike will not face any charges following his altercation and subsequent arrest at this year’s Grammy Awards. Earlier this year, Run The Jewels emcee Killer Mike was put in handcuffs after allegedly assaulting and injuring a female security guard.
According to reports, the Atlanta act was stopped backstage by a steward attempting to direct him to a security checkpoint. However, Killer Mike ignored the female trying to guide him and proceeded to make his way around her.
Following this, according to the steward, she “ran around and got in front of him again,” but he allegedly “pushed her to the ground,” causing her to suffer significant injuries to her hand and fingers. The female then called for help from her fellow security guards and, after receiving urgent medical treatment, signed a citizen’s arrest.
The charge levelled against the artist was for a misdemeanour battery. Following the scuffle, Mike was taken to a local police station for booking and processing. He was then released after accepting the minor charge.
However, it has recently been reported that he will not face criminal charges. As shared by TMZ, after a court appearance, the LA District attorney simply asked the rapper (real name Michael Render) to complete some community service.
Render agreed to this arrangement. However, if he repeats a similar offence, the judge threatened to reopen the initial case, meaning the lyricist could face much more severe criminal charges.
In a statement shortly after the Grammy ceremony, the rapper told fans, “I do want to note that last night, my team and I fielded a number of calls from concerned fans and colleagues wanting to know if I was OK. I greatly appreciate the concern and support, but I am better than OK.”
