Kid Cudi pays tribute to “wonderful human being” Oliver Tree following his death

Kid Cudi has paid tribute to Oliver Tree following his death over the weekend.

The 32-year-old musician from Santa Cruz, California, lost his life in a helicopter crash in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on June 14th.

Cudi took to Instagram on June 15th to share some words for Tree, describing him as a “brother” and “friend.”

“ima miss u bro,” he began. “We were just talking about u doing my podcast. When I see u again, we’ll finally do our interview my brother. rest peacefully my friend. Ill always remember our time hanging and performing w you on Encore. What a wonderful human being you were. We lost a really special one.”

He added, “Everyone blast Oliver’s music wherever u are. WE LOVE YOU OLIVER TREE.”

Tree, best known for songs such as ‘Life Goes On’, ‘When I’m Down’, and ‘Miss You’, died alongside five others in a crash that involved two helicopters.

His labels, Atlantic Records and Warner Chappell Music, released a joint statement addressing his passing.

“We are shocked and saddened by Oliver’s untimely passing,” they wrote. “He was a remarkable talent – a gifted artist and songwriter who forged a thoroughly unique and captivating style. Oliver was endlessly inventive and a true original. He was a cherished friend to many and a beloved member of our music family.”

They continued, “He profoundly loved music and his fans, and his absence will be deeply felt. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Oliver’s family, friends, and team, as well as the families and loved ones of all those affected by this tragic event.”

Tree released his final album, Love You Madly Hate You Badly, in April 2026.
