Kid Cudi becomes founding partner of mental health initiative

Kid Cudi has become a founding partner of the mental health initiative, We Are Enough.

The Cleveland rapper has been open about struggles with his mental health throughout his career and has used his platform to help others.

To coincide with Mental Health Awareness Month, Cudi was announced as a founding partner of We Are Enough on May 27th.

We Are Enough was launched to remove the stigma surrounding mental health and benefit those struggling.

In a statement, Cudi said “Been open about my struggles for years – I know what it’s like to be in that dark place. That’s why I’m excited to be a founding member of We Are Enough – a reminder that we already enough, just as we are. 100 per cent of proceeds go straight to nonprofits doing the real work on the ground for mental health.”

Over the years, fans have credited Cudi as an inspiration regarding his openness about mental health in his music, interviews, and on social media.

Cudi checked himself into rehab in 2016 due to depression and suicidal urges. With it, he shared a personal message.

“I am not at peace,” he said. “I haven’t been since you’ve known me. If I didn’t come here, I wouldve done something to myself. I simply am a damaged human swimming in a pool of emotions everyday of my life. Theres a ragin violent storm inside of my heart at all times. Idk what peace feels like. Idk how to relax.”

He continued, “My anxiety and depression have ruled my life for as long as I can remember and I never leave the house because of it. I cant make new friends because of it. I dont trust anyone because of it and Im tired of being held back in my life. I deserve to have peace. I deserve to be happy and smiling.”
