Kid Cudi admits he “hated every minute” of testifying in Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs trial
Kid Cudi has opened up about testifying in Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ sex trafficking trial. The Cleveland rapper admitted he “hated every minute” he was on the stand.
Cudi appeared in court due to his relationship with Cassie, who was in a long-term relationship with Combs and was a key part of the trial. Combs was accused of blowing up Cudi’s car, with the ‘Day N Nite’ rapper claiming the Bad Boy mogul broke into his home.
During his recent Call Her Daddy podcast appearance, Cudi revealed he declined to testify twice but eventually had no choice.
“First they asked, I said, ‘No,’ then again, I said, ‘No.’ Then I got a subpoena, and I was like, ‘Fuck, shit. No,’” he recalled. “Then I’m thinking about like, ‘What am I wearing, man? Do I have to be like, suit or something?’ I was like, ‘Man, fuck this shit. This is what I’m wearing today. I’m going to this fucking shit in this. I’m not dressing up for this shit.’
“Like, wear some hard bottoms. I’m wearing some Solomon’s, and I’m coming in with my Levi’s and my leather jacket and that’s it, you know? But I hated every minute of it. Like, I did not want to do it.”
Despite being reluctant to testify, he found peace in supporting Cassie, whom he considers a friend and someone he genuinely cares about.
“I thought about, when I was up there. I’m here to support Cassie, and Cassie is my friend, you know, and I love her, and I wanna see her do well,” Cudi said. “And when I saw her get married, I was so happy for her, you know, that she found someone, her person. When I saw that she was having kids, I was like, ‘Oh, this is so awesome.’ You know what I mean?
“Like, I’ve always just wanted to see her thrive and do well and be happy because I know she was living a nightmare, and I just was there to support her. That’s what kind of gave me peace with it when I sat down in that chair. It was just about, ‘Oh man, I gotta hold homegirl down and look out for her.'”
Combs was found guilty of two counts of transportation for prostitution and faces up to 20 years in prison when he’s sentenced on October 3rd.
