Kevin Gates accused of financially cutting off his children
Kevin Gates has been hit with allegations of cutting off his children financially. His estranged wife, Dreka Gates, filed court documents this week that included various claims about the rapper.
Dreka alleges that Kevin “started to dismantle the financial foundation of their family” by stopping payments for property taxes and their kids’ private school tuition in late 2021.
Despite that, Dreka claims that in the time since then, he’s spent money on 18 luxury vehicles and a $4.7 million estate in Calabasas, California. According to TMZ, Dreka is requesting $27,193 per month in child support and $46,274 in spousal support.
In response to her claims, Kevin defended himself by taking the “factually baseless position” that they were never legally married.
Dreka has also asked to be their children’s primary physical custodian, claiming that since 2023, 95% of their time has been spent with her.
She filed for divorce in July 2025 after 10 years of marriage. They separated on July 10th, with the filing coming on July 30th.
Dreka cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the filing and was seeking joint legal and physical custody. Kevin’s representative said the rapper “unfortunately” declined to speak on the matter.
The pair reportedly got married in October 2015 and share two children, 12-year-old Islah and 11-year-old Khaza.
Kevin admitted to cheating on Dreka with many women in a song named after his estranged wife, which was released in 2020.
In the first verse of ‘Dreka‘, he raps, “Drek, sit down, we need to talk, I’m ’bout to break your heart/ The burdens that been placed upon you, babe, that’s all my fault/ Cheatin’, multiple women, I can’t keep no account/ Takin’ care of multiple women out of separate accounts.”
