Unreleased Kendrick Lamar song from ‘good kid, m.A.A.d city’ surfaces

Kendrick Lamar released good kid, m.A.A.d city 13 years ago. This week, an unreleased song for the album surfaced online.

During a recent livestream, TDE affiliate MackWop played a rare Kendrick track that samples Radiohead’s classic 2000 song, ‘Everything in its Right Place’, from their Kid A album.

MackWop posted the clip to his YouTube channel, where he bopped his head and rapped along to the lyrics.

In the song, unofficially known as ‘Bloody Murder’, Kendrick raps, “16, 17 year olds, colder than an open window in Illinois is/ Noises from the Grim Reaper poisons the minds of yours and mines/ The more confined, more bodies on the slab/ Shot from a chopper, stabbed/ 24 times in the abs, that should be a permanent nap.”

He continues, “Deep, eternal, turn on TV/ You can see a TG ‘quipped and crazy/ Tried to kill him, but he murdered the lady/ Now Miss Daisy push up daisies/ Cradle to the grave, and our summers be so hot, you can find Satan in the shade/ Runnin’ from a tan, or maybe a black van/ Pullin’ up with doors that can slide both ways.”

Kendrick released his second album and major label debut, good kid, m.A.A.d city, in October 2012. The project debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 chart with 242,000 copies in its first week.

The album, released on Aftermath Entertainment and Interscope Records, made Kendrick a household name, with features from Drake, Dr Dre, MC Eiht, Jay Rock, and others.

Reflecting on the album in 2015, Kendrick told XXL, “I’d be lying to you to say I knew good kid, m.A.A.d city would be as successful as it has been. In the beginning, I was very doubtful. Once I was done, the jitters hit me so fast.”

It featured the singles, ‘Swimming Pools (Drank)’, which reached number 17 on the Hot 100, and ‘Poetic Justice’, which peaked at number 26.
