Kendrick Lamar is “talking shit again” on new Playboi Carti collab, says Akademiks
Kendrick Lamar will reportedly feature on Playboi Carti’s new album, I Am Music, which is dropping on March 13th. Akademiks made the statement during a live stream, ahead of the Atlanta rapper releasing his first project in five years.
In a clip posted by Akademiks TV on X, the hip-hop personality says, “Yo, buckle up y’all. That n*gga talking shit again. No leaks, no leaks.” Akademiks’ “talking shit again” comments reference Kendrick’s recent beef with Drake.
In the early hours of Thursday morning, Akademiks revealed that Carti had rung him and played the entirety of his new album. He confirmed features from Future, Young Thug, Lil Uzi Vert and The Weeknd.
“CARTI JUST CALLED ME AND PLAYED THE WHOLE ‘I AM MUSIC’ ALBUM,” he wrote on social media. “ITS GON BE CALLED A CLASSIC DAY 1. IF IM LYING UNFOLLOW AND BLOCK ME. CARTI got Pluto slime Uzi Trav Weeknd floating on dat bih. I nearly shed a tear listening to the shit. This shit for everybody I SWEAR. Btw purple hair Uzi back.”
In another post, Akademiks hyped up a secret feature that could be about Kendrick. “He got another feature that gon f*ck shit up… it’s too fye for me to even announce,” he said. “Just remember it’s stamped when u hear em say ‘CARTI MY EVIL TWIN.’”
He also claimed that, unlike Whole Lotta Red, which divided many people at first, I Am Music will immediately go down well with fans.
“CARTI DELIVERED,” he wrote. “MOST COMPLETE ALBUM w songs for everybody. all hits no misses. Block me if I’m lying when u hear it tm night. U KNOW FOR SOME WLR HAD TO GROW ON U. NA NA NA.. NOT DIS TIME. THIS SHIT SLAPPING OUT THE GATE. CARTI WALKING SHIT DOWN ON HERE.”
