Kendrick Lamar to release new song for ‘Captain America: Brave New World’

Kendrick Lamar is set to release new music for the upcoming Marvel film Captain America: Brave New World. The song is expected to be titled ‘Brave New World’ and set to coincide with the movie hitting cinemas on February 14th.

The movie’s lead actor, Anthony Mackie, revealed the news during an interview with Entertainment Tonight. “Kendrick did the title song for the movie,” he said. “I hope that’s not supposed to be a surprise. I’m breaking it here first. I’m so excited, man, the beauty and mastery in his craft.”

This is Kendrick’s second association with Captain America: Brave New World after his Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers song ‘N95’ featured in the trailer.

The movie is the fourth instalment in the Captain America film series and a continuation of the 2021 television miniseries The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Directed by Julius Onah, it stars Mackie alongside Harrison Ford, Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Carl Lumbly, and many others.

Kendrick is no stranger to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, having put together the soundtrack to Black Panther in 2018. The album included big singles like ‘All the Stars’, ‘Pray for Me’, and ‘King’s Dead’.

Elsewhere, his good kid, m.A.A.d city song ‘Backseat Freestyle’ appeared in an episode of Jessica Jones and To Pimp a Butterfly‘s ‘Alright’ was included in a trailer for 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Not only that, but he’s also mentioned in an episode of the Luke Cage series.

The announcement of new Kendrick music arrives shortly after headlining the Super Bowl halftime show over the weekend. The Compton rapper took over the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, with guest appearances from SZA, Samuel L Jackson, Serena Williams, and Mustard. K. Dot didn’t hold back on dissing Drake throughout the performance, bringing out diss tracks ‘Euphoria’ and ‘Not Like Us’, to which he received a huge response from the crowd.

Kendrick last released music in the form of his GNX album in November, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart with 319,000 units in its first week. The project served as the follow-up to 2022’s Mr. Morale album.
