Kendrick Lamar’s new movie with ‘South Park’ creators delayed again

Kendrick Lamar was planning to release his new movie next year, but the film has suffered yet another pushback.

The upcoming movie with South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone was initially in the calendar for March 20th, 2026. Now, it has been removed altogether.

Delaying the film indefinitely, a joint statement from Kendrick’s pgLang company and Stone and Parker’s Park County read, “It’s true – we’re moving (again). We’re working hard at finishing the movie.”

This is the second time the film has been delayed, having originally been set for release on July 11th, 2025, via Paramount Plus.

The movie, known as Whitney Springs, is being produced by Kendrick and close collaborator Dave Free, along with Parker and Stone.

It’s described as a live-action comedy that will “depict the past and present coming to a head when a young black man, who is interning as a slave re-enactor at a living history museum, discovers that his white girlfriend’s ancestors once owned his.”

Parker directed the film, with Vernon Chatman writing the script. A poster for the movie listed Kendrick as an actor alongside Celeste Octavia and Chloe East, who is best known for her roles in The Fabelmans and Heretic.

Speaking on White Springs, Paramount Pictures’ president and CEO, Brian Robbins, previously said, “On behalf of Paramount Pictures and the wider ViacomCBS family, we look forward to ushering in the first theatrical collaboration from these creative visionaries, and galvanising audiences worldwide around a powerful storytelling experience.”

In addition, Robbins claimed Chatman’s script was “one of the funniest and original scripts” he’d ever read. They began shooting the movie in October 2024 in Pomona, California.
