Kay Flock’s legal team denies rapper was stabbed in prison
The legal team behind Kay Flock have denied reports that the rapper was stabbed behind bars.
In December, the Bronx rapper was sentenced to 30 years in prison for his role in gang shootings.
After reports surfaced about Flock being attacked while serving his sentence, his lawyer, Michael T Ashley, issued a statement on January 19th.
“I am glad to confirm that Mr Kevin Perez aka. Kay Flock is quite well,” he wrote in a statement to XXL. “We met earlier this week, and I spoke with him moments ago.”
The legal representative continued, “His spirits remain high, and he is resolved to continue to pursue justice in his case. His notice of appeal was recently filed and various post-conviction remedies are being pursued on his behalf.”
US District Judge Lewis J Liman sentenced the 22-year-old (real name Kevin Perez) on December 16th for committing violent crimes as the alleged leader of Bronx gang Sev Side/DOA.
Perez was convicted of racketeering conspiracy, attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon in aid of racketeering, and a firearm discharge offence.
Speaking on Flock’s crimes, US Attorney Jay Clayton said, “Kevin Perez used violence and fame to fuel fear and intimidation across the Bronx. Perez and his gang members carried out a string of shootings that struck both rival gang members and innocent bystanders.”
He added, “Perez also used his platform as a prominent rapper to celebrate his violence: threatening his rivals, bragging about his shootings, and taunting his victims. His brazen actions unleashed a series of back-and-forth retaliatory shootings that killed and injured far too many people in the Bronx.”
When Perez is released from prison in several decades, he will face five years of supervised release. He recently appealed his sentence.
