Former Kanye West staffer seeks $100,000 over Adolf Hitler messages
Kanye West was sued earlier this year by a woman who claims she was subjected to verbal abuse, discrimination and constant degradation of women. Jane Doe, who worked as a marketing specialist for Ye, is now demanding almost $100,000.
During her time working for Kanye, Doe claimed he sent her harassing messages that read, “Welcome to the first day of working for Hitler,” and “Hail Hitler.” Before being suddenly fired, she also said he sent her a photo of a naked woman and told her to work on his Yeezy Porn business.
According to Rolling Stone, the woman explicitly wants $99,720. The official amount will be determined during a hearing on September 12th.
Ye attempted to dismiss the complaint in April. The motion said, “Ye is not merely a creator; he is art. Ye’s public and private personas form a continuous, provocative performance that challenges societal taboos surrounding race, religion, gender, power, politics, and censorship.”
Denying his request, Judge Theresa M Traber said the filing was “rife with defects, specious arguments, and misstatements of law.” She added that the declarations from alleged witnesses were “totally lacking in personal knowledge or proper foundation upon which to base their asserted opinions.”
In February, Jane Doe’s lawyer, Carney Shegerian, said, “Ye waged a relentless and deliberate campaign of antisemitism and misogyny against my client. His appalling treatment of women and fixation on Nazism, evident in abusive texts where he repeatedly calls himself Hitler, expose his motives.”
He added, “We need to stop excusing Ye’s behaviour. As a father, husband, and employer, he must be held accountable. Ye dared my client to sue, and we will see him in court.”
The initial lawsuit came about shortly after Kanye called himself a Nazi and praised Adolf Hitler on X (formerly known as Twitter).
