Kanye West sued by former Yeezy staffer after texting “Hail Hitler”
Kanye West is facing a lawsuit from one of his former staff members at Yeezy, claiming the rapper made hateful and antisemitic comments to one of his Jewish employees. In the suit filed in LA Superior Court on February 11th, alleged text messages from Ye were included, in which he wrote, “I am a Nazi” and “Welcome to the first day of working for Hitler.”
The woman who sued Ye is Jewish, she alleges he fired her after texting “Hail Hitler” and calling her ugly and stupid. The lawsuit describes antisemitic behaviour between January 2024 and June 2024. The anonymous plaintiff was hired as a marketing specialist in December 2023 and fired in March 2024 before being rehired at double her initial salary.
In January 2024, Jane Doe suggested that Kanye should go back on his ties to Nazism following controversy around his Vultures 1 album. A co-worker then told Ye, who responded in a text, “I am a Nazi.” In a group chat, Kanye allegedly compared himself to Adolf Hitler and scolded the woman, saying, “Come destroy me bitch” and “Hail Hitler,” before firing her the next day.
He also encouraged her to sue him, texting, “Now sue me you corny ass bitch.” He also told her to “shut the fuck up bitch.” According to Variety, the many claims in the lawsuit allege gender and religious discrimination and wrongful termination.
Her lawyer, Carney Shegerian, said in a statement, “Ye waged a relentless and deliberate campaign of antisemitism and misogyny against my client. His appalling treatment of women and fixation on Nazism, evident in abusive texts where he repeatedly calls himself Hitler, expose his motives.”
The statement continued, “We need to stop excusing Ye’s behaviour. As a father, husband, and employer, he must be held accountable. Ye dared my client to sue, and we will see him in court.”
Her lawsuit comes shortly after Kanye caused outrage on X (formerly Twitter) last week, in which he called himself a Nazi and praised Adolf Hitler. “I love Hitler, now what, bitches? I’m a Nazi,” he wrote on the platform before deactivating his account. “I say whatever the fuck I want p*ssies.”
