Kanye West attempts to defend his 'White Lives Matter' shirt

Unsurprisingly perhaps, it appears that Kanye West is backing himself in relation to the controversy surrounding his ‘White Lives Matter’ shirt, even with all the backlash (or even because of it).

Yesterday (October 5th), Ye posted on his Instagram account to defend the ridiculous shirt that he wore at the Yeezy Season 9 fashion show in Paris earlier this week. The image was of a black version of the shirt, and the caption read, “Here’s my latest response when people ask me why I made a tee that says white lives matter… THEY DO.”

Kanye has had much controversy surrounding him this week following the debut of the shirt. Yet, he was not the only person to be wearing one at the fashion show. Several others, including Selah Marley, the daughter of Lauren Hill, also wore one.

Conservative commentator Candace Owens had also attended the show and couldn’t help but pose for a picture with Kanye and the much-maligned item of clothing. West evidently has a countering opinion of the Black Lives Matter movement.

He appears to believe that he has ended the movement on his own by wearing a T-shirt. On his Instagram Story yesterday, Kanye wrote, “Everyone knows that Black Lives Matter was a scam. Now it’s over. You’re welcome.”

Kanye has proven to be very active on the social media platform since he wore the shirt on Monday. After Vogue editor Gabriella Karefa-Johnson offered an excellent commentary on the rapper’s actions, he went after her.

And so too did he bring up the long-drawn-out narrative of his ex-wife Kim Kardashian and her family attempting to keep Kanye’s children away from him, accusing them of “kidnapping” his daughter Chicago. Although, given Kanye’s recent actions, it is unsurprising that a mother would have it in her best interests to keep her children away from an evidently unwell and provocative man.
