Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign cancel Taiwan listening party
Collaborators Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign have announced that their Vultures listening experience event in Taiwan has been cancelled. The event was only organised last month, but it now appears that the duo is not interested in attending. It was due to take place on August 25th, but following reports in Taiwan News and on the Ye fan account, it appears the event has been cancelled.
This will disappoint fans in Taiwan who had tickets for the listening experience. Kanye has recently become synonymous with these evenings, putting a lot into the set design to create spectacles within which fans can enjoy his music.
The Taiwan Mirror Media wrote, “[I]t was reported that the organiser informed the manufacturers that ‘the event is cancelled’, but no official cancellation announcement has been made yet.”
It’s worth noting that the ticketing webpage for the event does not list any cancellations. It states that the event is still happening as usual, billing it as a “Listening and fashion party,” which is “Not a ‘regular concert’.” The most recent update on this page was on August 10th, which pertains to VIP seating and stage design as opposed to whether the gig is actually happening.
There are a number of question marks surrounding the event, as neither Kanye West nor Ty Dolla Sign have said it is cancelled, either. Additionally, another listening experience set to take place in Korea on August 23rd seems to be going ahead as planned.
The inconsistency surrounding the event is similar to that of the album Vultures II. As has become common practice for Kanye West, he continues to make changes to the album after it has been released, and the piece remains ever-changing. Just last week, he added a new verse to the song ‘Forever’.
On August 16th, the duo added four extra songs to their second collaborative project, which featured some high-profile guests. These included Kid Cudi, who performs on ‘Gun to My Head’, Travis Scott on ‘Can U Be’, and Kodak Black on ‘Drunk’.
Vultures II needs more amendments than any of Ye’s previous releases, as it is being dubbed his worst yet. The sampling used to make up the album feels staggered and incomplete, the pen game of Ye and Ty Dolla Sign and a lot of the features fall below the bar, and the album, in general, is tough to listen to.
This remains a developing story.
