Kanye and Drake set to sweep up at this year's BET awards

Kanye West and Drake are two of the biggest name in contemporary hip hop. With Kanye being the wealthiest man in hip hop and Drake being the rapper with the most top five singles ever, they are both highly decorated and respected artists.

With that being said, it looks like they are both set to sweep up at this year’s BET awards. With Drake having already received thirteen BET awards and 20 BET hip hop awards in his career, the rapper is now looking to increase his numbers.

Drake has received several nominations for this year’s BET awards and has two songs up for nomination in the same category.  His nominations within the category ‘Best Collaboration’ features his track ’21’ with 21 Savage and ‘Wait For You’ featuring Future and Tems. In the ‘Best Featured Verse’ category, Drizzy’s nomination is for the tracks ‘Way 2 Sexy’ with Future and Young Thug.

With regards to Ye, who has recently been in a feud with Adidas over alleged design theft. The nominations come as a result of his collaboration with Cardi B for the track ‘Hot Shit’, which also features Lil Durk. The song has been nominated three times in the categories ‘Song of the Year’, ‘Best Hip Hop Video’ and ‘Best Collaboration’.

Aside from  Drizzy and Ye, who already have their fair share of awards, other artists set to sweep up include Doja Cat, Young Thug ( who is behind bars), and Latto. One of the most important and interesting categories is ‘Artist of the Year’, and this year we seem to have a battle royale.

This year the nominees are Cardi B, Doja Cat, Drake, Future, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar and Megan Thee Stallion. All of these artists are extremely popular right now, so it will undoubtedly be a tight call. Maybe a BET award will cheer up Kanye, who has been increasingly agitated over the last few weeks. As for Drake, for the Canadian, it will be business as usual.
