In 2019, Jarad Higgins, known publicly as Juice WRLD tragically passed away at the age of 21 following a drug overdose. Since then various unreleased singles have been leaked online and the mother of the late rapper has condemned these leaks as disrespectful.
Speaking to XXL, his mother, Carmella Wallace, explained that she understands that most of the leaks come from eager fans in honour of their hero, however, she said that the way they often go about the process is incorrect.
“Let us give you our best,” she said. “Leaked music is not necessarily cleaned up music. It’s just leaked, it’s not finished. It’s a bit disrespectful to him to leak his music like that.”
Given the nature of the internet and how unregulated the libertarian world of social media seems to be, it is very hard to do anything about the continual leaks and Wallace accepted this fact, stating: We can just do our part and put out good music. He made a lot of good music.”
In his tragically short life, Juice WRLD was one of the most prolific artists on the scene and as a result, there are over a hundred unreleased songs currently on SoundCloud.
The estate of the late rapper has already released two posthumous albums, but with many more tracks remaining unreleased there is potential for others to follow.
