The controversial Juice WRLD lyrics that Drake laughed at: “It was out of fun”

Juice WRLD passed away in 2019 following an accidental overdose. During his lifetime, he was never afraid of being bold with his lyrics, even when it came to referencing the biggest names in rap music.

A year before he died, the Chicago-born rapper collaborated with Lil Yachty on ‘Yacht Club’, a song that appeared on the Atlanta artist’s Nuthin’ 2 Prove project. Produced by Earl on the Beat, the track finds the duo bragging about their wealth and popularity with women.

In the back-and-forth verse between Juice and Yachty, Juice drops some controversial lines about Drake. He raps, “I’m a young king, I might fuck Alexis Texas/ But I ain’t on no Drake shit, I won’t get her pregnant/ Damn, young Juice WRLD, boy, you reckless/ And I feel you until I get her naked/ When I get up in it, I might have to stay in.”

The lyrics reference Drake having a child with former adult porn star Sophie Brussaux. Pusha T famously released his diss track, ‘The Story of Adidon‘, in May 2018, which revealed to the world that Drizzy had a son. With Juice’s bars, he opens up about his crush on Alexis Texas, but claims he would be careful if they ever had sex.

Instead of getting angry about the lyrics, Drake actually took it lightly. Yachty, who is friends with Drizzy, was a little shocked the first time he heard the lines. However, he informed Drake, who stated he had no issue with them. “At the time, we were in the booth together actually,” Yachty told Billboard. “He said it and I was like, ‘Wow, OK.’ I talked to Drake about it and he said it was all good. He felt there was really no harm. I told Drake before, because I fuck with Drake. Then it came out and he laughed at it.”

There was no harm on Juice’s part, either. He considered himself a huge Drake fan and felt his lyrics were akin to Eminem in his prime, simply adding humour to his material. “I mean, I’m probably one of the biggest Drake fans you could ever find,” he said during a Vulture interview. “I’m also a big fan of Eminem, and sometimes I use his point of view, his style.

He added, “When Eminem was coming up, he used to crack jokes [about other artists] in his music. It was like satire. I incorporated the same thing. It was really a joke. People can take it however they wanna take it, but I’m pretty sure Drake knows it’s a joke. It was out of fun. I think he’s the greatest in the game right now.”

Years later, Drizzy included posthumous Juice WRLD vocals on his Kid Cudi collaboration, ‘IMY2′. In the intro, Juice says, “I think that’s what life is about/ Truly findin’ yourself/ And then closin’ your eyes and dyin’ in your sleep.” It was confirmation that Drake felt no type of way about the comments he made about the mother of his child.
