Joey Badass announces 'New Album 2000' and summer tour dates

Joey Badass has announced details of his new album, New Album 2000, and revealed his summer tour plans.

Earlier this year, Badass first hinted that new music was on the way, and fans didn’t have much longer to wait for his third album, which he promised would be “dropping this year for sure”. During an Instagram Live, he revealed: “I ain’t gonna say exactly when though cause there’s certain rappers who be on my heels. So imma just — it’s coming though.”

Now, he’s confirmed his plans to release New Album 2000, and his first full-length effort in five years is dropping on June 17th. This album marks his first record since 2017’s All-Amerikkkan Badass, and it feels good to have him back. Over the past five years, Joey has diverted to the realm of acting with roles on Mr Robot and Grown-ish, but now he’s returned to his first love.

“Back on the set like I never left… #2000 #newalbum #june17th,” he wrote in the caption of the announcement. Meanwhile, he also revealed in an XXL interview that he’s been working with elite producers: “As far as producers go, I got my boys on there: Statik Selektah, Kirk Knight. I got a Cardo joint on there. I got a Mike WiLL [Made-It] joint on there. I’m supposed to be getting in with DJ Premier this week ’cause I told him I can’t complete this album if we don’t link up.”

His 1999-2000 tour begins in July with a date in Boston, before passing through cities including Toronto, Atlanta, Chicago and San Francisco before Joey bows out in Los Angeles at the end of July.
