Jimmy Kimmel responds to Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs conspiracy surrounding LA wildfires

Although Sean ‘Diddy‘ Combs is currently behind bars at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Centre, a baseless internet conspiracy allege he was been involved in the wildfires that are sweeping the suburbs of Los Angeles and Pacific Palisades.

The numerous infernos are burning their way through some of LA’s wealthiest neighbourhoods and have forced many celebrities, including Kim Kardashian, Mel Gibson, and Paris Hilton, to evacuate their homes. At this stage, 25 people have been confirmed dead due to the fires.

That said, late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel has recently shed light on some of the more out-there conspiracy theories about the fires and addressed the internet “nuts” who are currently running amok on social media.

While Kimmel urged his viewers to donate money to charities helping those who have been affected by the wildfires, he also added levity by drawing the crowd’s attention to some of the locals who believe the fires are the result of arson.

Not all the conspiracy theorists agree about the source of the fires, but during his show, Kimmel spoke about how his brother, who lives in the Californian city, ran into a woman who was insistent that Combs lit the fires, telling the audience,  “[My brother] started talking to a lady in line who honestly believed that Diddy (Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs) started the fires.”

Expressing his disbelief at the nonsensical comments, the late-night host said, “Diddy, who is in prison in New York, managed to start the fire. And she believed this.” He clarified that, to his knowledge, the conspiracy has been widespread on TikTok.

Kimmel continued to delve into some of the more absurd details of the conspiracy, telling the audience, “There’s a story going around on TikTok that says the fires were started on purpose by ‘elites’ who intend to destroy Diddy’s paedophile escape tunnels because they’re evidence. This is something real people believe.”

Kimmel then attempted to debunk the theory on his show by producing a map and highlighting where the fires were spreading. He proceeded to emphasise that all the infernos were miles away from Combs’ home in Beverly Hills. However, he did not refrain from joking about the stupidity of some people, saying, “Thank God fire isn’t fueled by stupid, or this country would be one giant Olympic torch right now.”

Many hip-hop MCs have been caught up in stories about the wildfires. It was recently reported that, despite the urgent situation, Kanye West has chosen to remain in Dubai even though Kim Kardashian and his four children have had to evacuate their mansion in the Hidden Hills neighbourhood.

Hidden Hills has been under threat from the ‘Kenneth’ wildfire, and many other unfathomably wealthy A-List stars live in the area, including Marc Anthony, Jamie Foxx, Iggy Azalea and Nicki Minaj. That said, the fire that was threatening the region has yet to enter the neighbourhood and burn down the multiple mansions.
