Jay-Z’s attorneys allege Tony Buzbee of coercing clients to sue Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs
Jay-Z’s lawyer, Alex Spiro, has decided to go on the offensive regarding Tony Buzbee. Since being named in a lawsuit filed by the Houston attorney on December 8th, Jay-Z and Spiro have questioned Buzbee’s credibility and sought to expose any questionable business practices.
The December 8th case, which alleges that Jay-Z and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs both raped a 13-year-old girl in 2000, was filed by Tony Buzbee in October before being amended on December 8th. However, Alex Spiro and Jay-Z have made allegations regarding the attorney’s practices and have accused Buzbee of blackmail and extortion.
Furthermore, they now believe they have evidence to prove he has been coercing his clients to file lawsuits not only against Combs but against Jay-Z as well. On December 10th, Spiro asked the court for an emergency hearing and in a letter addressed to Judge Analisa Torres, the lawyer expressed his concern about Buzbee, writing, “Adding to the urgency of this matter, Tony Buzbee has orchestrated a months-long press campaign aimed at inflaming public opinion and escalating the events in real-time on social media platforms.”
Now, Jay-Z’s legal team have alleged to have found more individuals who are allegedly willing to go on record and say that Buzbee coerced them to add Diddy and Jay-Z’s names to completely unrelated lawsuits they were looking to file. However, this alleged evidence is yet to be shared with the public.
Lawyers for Jay-Z have filed an affidavit alleging that Tony Buzbee tried to coerce an individual to link an unrelated sex trafficking case to Combs. Mari Henderson, an associate of Spiro’s renowned law firm ‘Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan’ has filed a declaration alleging that on November 9th, she spoke with “a female adult resident of the State of Texas” who had negative experiences of Buzbee’s legal firm.
The anonymous Texan who did not wish for her name to be publicised allegedly told Henderson that although she wanted to file a lawsuit as “a victim of trafficking by celebrities entirely unrelated to Mr Combs (or Mr Carter),” Buzbee insisted she had to link her case to Diddy or Jay-Z.
The unnamed woman, according to Henderson, allegedly described feeling “directed and coached by Mr Buzbee’s firm to say that someone held her down and put drugs in her mouth when that was not her experience. She felt forced to lie.”
Spiro has told the courts that this anonymous declaration “is further evidence in support of Mr Carter’s right to thoroughly investigate, test, and respond to the spurious allegations that have been levelled against him.”
Although Spiro believes he may have a smoking gun, Buzbee was quick to deny this allegation. In a statement to USA Today, he responded, “This allegation is patently ridiculous and has no support.”
Buzbee added, “If someone calls our intake group and has a viable case that we believe has merit and we can pursue, we will pursue it. We are currently pursuing hundreds of cases against individuals and entities other than P Diddy. What we won’t do is pursue a case that we don’t believe has merit.”
