Jay-Z accuser admits he never raped her in voice recording
Shawn ‘Jay-Z‘ Carter was named in a lawsuit last year, accusing him of raping a 13-year-old girl alongside Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs. The anonymous woman recently dropped the lawsuit against Carter, and now a voice recording has surfaced of Jane Doe admitting he never raped her.
Two private investigators associated with Carter spoke to the woman after the lawsuit was withdrawn with prejudice. She previously claimed the incident occurred at a party following the MTV Video Music Awards in 2000.
In the audio obtained by ABC News, one investigator said, “But Jay-Z was – you’re saying he was definitely there? But that he had no part in it?” Jane Doe replied, “He was there.” The other investigator said, “He was just there, but he didn’t have anything to do with any sexual acts towards you?” She replied, “Yeah.”
Jane Doe added, “[Attorney Tony Buzbee] was the one that kind of pushed me towards going forward with him, with Jay-Z.” When asked if she knew why, she replied, “No.”
Carter’s lawyer, Alex Spiro, explained why private investigators spoke to Jane Doe in the first place. “People around Mr Carter wanted to know what happened behind closed doors,” he said. “And so, they asked for her to be interviewed. The interview occurred, and the tape speaks for itself.
“She says, in no uncertain terms, Mr Carter did not do this, it is effectively a lie and the only reason Mr Carter is even involved in this is because she was pushed to involve him, pushed to include him, by a lawyer.”
After the woman revealed she felt “intimidated and terrified” when confronted on her doorstep, Spiro claimed she wasn’t coerced. “She voluntarily met, spoke to them, and she told them her truth,” he said. He also denied Carter knowing her altogether, stating there’s “no truth to any of this.”
Buzbee said it was a “blatant lie” that he pushed her to sue Carter, sharing his own recording of a phone call with his client. “They say that they have you on tape denying that Jay-Z assaulted you – is that true?” he said. In response, Jane Doe said, “No, no. I don’t – I’ve never said that.”
The lawyer continued, “Okay, they also say that you told them, and they have it on tape, that I, Tony Buzbee, told you to, like, came up with this plan and told you to say that Jay-Z assaulted you, so you would get more money.” She replied, “No.”
Carter sued Jane Doe earlier this month, alleging she admitted to his representatives that she concocted her claim and felt pressured by her legal team to repeat it during her NBC News interview.
