Jay-Z and D’Angelo release new single 'I Want You Forever'

Jay-Z and neo-soul legend D’Aneglo have released their latest single ‘I Want You Forever’. A collaborative track that will feature on the soundtrack of Jeymes Samuel’s new film, The Book Of Clarence.

Prior to the track’s release, Samuel described the collaboration as “nine minutes and 32 seconds of absolute soulful, biblical bliss” and it has delivered. The single is D’Angelo’s first release since his track ‘Unshaken’ 2019.

Earlier this year, the first single from the Book of Clarence soundtrack, ‘Hallelujah Heaven,’ featured an all-star lineup with notable names like Lil Wayne, Shabba Ranks and Buju Banton appearing on the song. Another track performed by Doja Cat and Kodak Black named ‘Jeezu’ also appears on the soundtrack, which Roc Nation has released.

Jay-Z and Jeymes worked together on the movie. Samuel not only wrote but also directed this film, which is currently in theatres. Jay-Z (real name Shawn Carter) also helped produce the movie and the soundtrack. The two musicians previously worked together on the 2021 Western, The Harder They Fall.

In a press release for the first single with Lil Wayne, Samuels wrote, “The Book of Clarence is a film that I wanted to make for many years. While I was working on The Harder They Fall, and all my other projects, the story and the music for The Book of Clarence was always there percolating in my mind.”

He continued, “There was never a question as to whether I would compose the score and write and perform on the soundtrack, as well as write and direct the movie—it was all one amazing journey where one depended on the other. But I also worked with the most awesome artists on our track ‘Hallelujah Heaven.’ Collaborating with Lil Wayne, Buju Banton, and Shabba Ranks was so dope, I loved getting them all on the same track.”

This is Jay-Z’s first musical appearance since his feature on Pusha T’s 2022 single Neck & Wrist alongside Pharrell Williams for Pusha’s album, It’s Almost Dry. You can listen to ‘I Want You Forever’ with D’Angelo below.
