Jack Harlow reveals his favourite rap group of all time

Jack Harlow has picked an unlikely name as his favourite rap group of all time while holding a Q&A session with fans. The Louisville rapper took to his Instagram Stories this week to give his followers the chance to ask ten questions, which came with surprising results.

Harlow was asked to pick the “most legendary” rap group between Wu-Tang Clan, Dipset and A$AP Mob, but his response wasn’t what anyone would have expected. “Try again,” he replied while sharing a photo of Cordae and YBN Nahmir.

Cordae and YBN Nahmir were part of a rap group called YBN that were active between 2014 and 2020, with Almighty Jay being another core member of the group. The collective, whose name was an acronym for “Young Ass N-ggas,” split around four years ago, with Cordae opting to remove “YBN” from his own stage name. Nahmir revealed he had no issues with the decision, stating his former group member did it “for the right reasons.”

YBN released one project together, YBN: The Mixtape, in 2018. The album, released on Atlantic Records, peaked at number 21 on the Billboard 200 and has been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. It included features from Chris Brown, Wiz Khalifa, Gucci Mane, Machine Gun Kelly, and Lil Skies.

Jack Harlow collaborated with Cordae in 2021 on ‘Killer Remix’, a new version of Eminem’s song from Music to Be Murdered By: Side B. Harlow provided the opening verse on the track and set the tempo for Cordae to lay down the second verse. The new revelation about YBN being his favourite rap group makes the collaboration even more of a bucket list moment for him, if working with a legend like Eminem wasn’t enough already.

The ‘Whats Poppin’ rapper previously revealed his favourite hip-hop albums ever during an interview with Rap Radar. His picks included a variety of different artists, including Kanye West, OutKast, Drake, JAY-Z and The Cool Kids.

Late RegistrationAquemini, Nothing Was the Same,” he said, listing off his favourite LPs. “I love [The] Blueprint. You know what album I love? When Fish Ride Bicycles by The Cool Kids… I love The Cool Kids. Cool Kids give me all that bounce and tempo that I like.”

It might not be the first rap group one thinks of when picking out the best, but for Harlow, YBN are top of the pile.
