J Cole reveals he’s working on new music: “I been locked in”
J Cole has announced that he’s working on new music. Last year, the Dreamville rapper launched a new website for his Inevitable audio series and a new blog to speak to his fans.
Cole shared an update with his fans this week, stating he was “locked in” on recording material while spending time with his family.
“I knowwww mannnn. I’m off to a bad start with the consistency, but I’ma do better! Watch!!” he began. “I been locked in on the music while also balancing family life. It’s a juggling act that a blog post wouldn’t do justice in explaining. But with that said, I’m back tending to this garden. “
He continued, “I think I’m gonna let some other people post on here too, to get the vibes up. It’ll motivate me to check every day, and will fuel the desire to post more. I’ma start with Ib and Scott and then expand from there. To anybody in the squad reading, if you trying to contribute I’m taking applications!”
The blog post comes less than a month after Cole shut down rumours about a new album dropping soon. “Ib told me some people was thinking this blog meant an album was about to drop,” he wrote. “Nahhh. Not exactly. When it’s time for something you will know. This is not that.”
Cole released his last project, Might Delete Later, in April 2024. The tape was nominated for ‘Best Rap Album at the 2025 Grammys and peaked at number two on the Billboard 200 with 115,000 units. It’s been four years since Cole dropped his last studio album, The Off-Season, which reached number one on the Billboard 200 with 282,000 units.
His next album is expected to be titled The Fall Off and could be his last LP. Battle rapper Daylyt had high praise for the album on Instagram Live, claiming, “Cole is going out with a nuclear missile, I’m telling y’all that. It’s his last go-around and he literally was like, ‘I don’t give a fuck about radio; I just wanna show the world my pen before I die.’ I heard it, all of it. It is the most amazingest rapping I have seen and heard thus far.”
