J Cole reveals Kendrick Lamar originally had two features on ‘The Fall-Off’

J Cole has revealed that Kendrick Lamar originally appeared on The Fall-Off not once, but twice.

The North Carolina rapper released his latest album in February, which served as the follow-up to 2021’s The Off-Season.

The project included appearances from Future, Burna Boy, Erykah Badu, Tems, Morray, and others, but it was also supposed to feature Kendrick.

During an appearance on Cam’ron’s Talk with Flee, Cole explained that he removed Kendrick after the songs were leaked.

“I had The Fall-Off finished. I probably had to tweak a couple of mixes,” he said. “At that time, I had been working on The Fall-Off, which was done, and by the way, somebody leaked it. I know who leaked it – it’s cool he put it out there. [Kendrick] was on two joints.”

It’s unclear whether Kendrick would have appeared on the album anyway, given the events that took place in 2024.

Cole dissed Kendrick on ‘7 Minute Drill‘ and later apologised, removing the closing track on his Might Delete Later mixtape altogether.

In his apology at Dreamville Festival, he said, “I just wanna come up here and publicly be like, bruh, that was the lamest, goofiest shit. And I say all that to say, it made me feel like 10 years ago when I was moving incorrectly, and I pray that god will line me back up on my purpose and my path. I pray that my n*gga didn’t feel no way.”

He continued, “And if he did, my n*gga, I got my chin out, take your best shot, I’ma take that shit on the chin, boy. Do what you do. All good. It’s love. And I pray that y’all will like, forgive a n*gga for the misstep and I can get back to my true path, ’cause I ain’t gonna lie to y’all, the past two days felt terrible.”
