Is Drake set to release a sneak Kendrick Lamar diss track?

Never mind the hip-hop story of 2024; the feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar will likely go down as one of the biggest stories in the history of the genre. The rivalry is now up there with some of the biggest beefs in rap to date, the back-and-forths between the two legends not only created entertainment but the production of some of the best music to come out this year.

The feud seemingly ended as Drake’s ‘The Heart Part 6’ fell flat for many listeners, and Lamar held ‘The Pop Out’ as well as releasing a fact-checking music video for his hit ‘Not Like Us’. Many wrote the beef off as a Lamar win. However, it may well be that Drake isn’t done yet.

DJ Akademiks was a prominent commentator on Drake and Kendrick’s feud, providing insight into some of Drake’s movements and hinting at fans when the Toronto rapper was going to drop. Since the beef has been supposedly over, he has continued to tease that Drake has more to say about Lamar than he is letting on. It may not be a full-blown diss track, but the streamer said some K Dot sneak disses could be on the way.

In talking about the ongoing feud, Akademiks assured people, “It’s really not over,” adding, “I can’t wait to hear the first sneak diss.” He started talking about rumours he had heard circulating but cut himself off before revealing too much. “Matter of fact,” he said, “I won’t even tell y’all what I heard.”

While Drake has been relatively quiet on the Lamar front recently, the way Akademics talked made it seem like he knew something that the public didn’t. He continued, “I can’t wait to hear the first sneak diss Drake got… That’s dissing Kendrick. How he positions it, that’s gonna be interesting. How does he position it…”

The sneak disses may have already started, as there was speculation Drake had taken a shot against Kendrick Lamar as OVO released a selection of photos advertising their casual women’s clothing. One of the pieces was a white vest, commonly referred to as a “wife beater,” modelled by someone who resembled Lamar’s fiancé.

Given how much of a stance Drake took during the beef, claiming that Lamar had abused his wife, and given the rapper’s history of sneak disses, it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to suggest this product placement was intentional. However, it came shortly after the release of Kendrick Lamar’s music video for ‘Not Like Us’, which showed the Compton rapper and his fiancé happily dancing to the song, discrediting Drake’s allegations.

This is an ongoing story; more information will follow on the feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake.
