Indianapolis rapper Playbwoi The Great shot and killed

Indianapolis rapper Playbwoi The Great has been shot and killed.

The 37-year-old (real name Cornell Davis), who was signed to Boosie Badazz, lost his life in a shooting that took place on the night of May 5th.

According to WRTV, Playbwoi was found with gunshot wounds inside a home on the 6000 block of Windsor Avenue near East 21st Street and Arlington Avenue, where he was pronounced dead.

Police claim that the shooting took place at around 9pm following a dispute between two men who knew each other. Law enforcement spoke to one person of interest, who has since been released.

In a statement, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Officer Richard Ray said, “Unfortunately tonight we have a homicide. Officers were called to the 6000 block of Windsor Avenue on the report of a person shot, to find an individual inside with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. That individual was pronounced deceased on the scene.”

Playbwoi’s mother, Jeanetta Leshore, paid tribute to her son following his death.

“That’s Playbwoi, my son… my king,” she said. “I was his number one fan. I used to pass out his CDs. I was selling your CDs. I was going to get the CD stamps and printed. That’s how much of a big supporter I was.”

Playbwoi was signed to Boosie’s Bad Azz Music Syndicate, and is best known for songs such as ‘Don’t Be Afraid’ and ‘Ready’.

Speaking about his collaborators, Leshore said, “Rick Ross wanted to sign him. Young Jeezy wanted to buy one of his songs. He’s done music with Kevin Gates. He was signed to Boosie. He called me. He said, ‘Mom, guess what, I just got signed to Boosie.’ I was so excited. I said he’s about to come up.”
