Ice-T shares his verdict on Kendrick Lamar vs Drake beef

West Coast emcee Ice-T has recently spoken out about the current feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake. Over the weekend, Drake (real name Aubrey Graham) released ‘Not Like Us,’ and ‘The Heart Part 6’. The latter is a play on Lamar’s 2022 track ‘The Heart Part 5’.

However, Ice-T (real name Tracy Marrow), akin to Vince Staples, is not impressed by the ongoing exchange of records between two of the most revered MCs of the new school. Taking to social media, Marrow told his fans he is utterly uninterested in what he considers “gossip” and is still focused on getting money.

Taking to Twitter/X, the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit actor wrote, “I’m sorry if I’m not interested in current rap beef or random male gossip.” He continued,  “I’m a hustler. I’m only focused on the bag.”

Ice-T has shown disdain for Drake before. In 2015, when the Canadian rapper battled with Meek Mill, Ice-T criticised his diss track ‘Back To Back’ calling it “Passive aggressive.” He also said the style of his delivery didn’t stand up to any diss track in hip-hop and was weak.

During an appearance on the SiriusXM show Sway In The Morning, Ice-T stated, “That’s not a battle rap. A battle rap is like when Nas Ether’d Jay, you go in right at the first word you start dissing a n*gga, you let a n**ga know right out the gate. It’s not out the side of your mouth. It’s not subliminal. That’s how women do it.”

However, Marrow has previously praised Kendrick Lamar and, as such, many have assumed that he is secretly siding with his West Coast counterpart. In a 2013 interview with VIBE magazine, Marrow explained, “[He] came out of Dre’s camp, and to get a pass from Dr. Dre you got to be dope.”

Although Marrow is indifferent to the current feud, in 1998, he dissed LL Cool J on his album Power, and in 2008 aimed at Soulja Boy by accusing him of “killing” the genre. Soulja responded by making fun of Ice-T’s age in a YouTube video.
