Ice Cube wins ‘Worst Actor’ at the 2026 Razzie Awards
Ice Cube has won ‘Worst Actor’ at the 2026 Razzie Awards for his role in ‘War of the Worlds’.
The Golden Raspberry Awards, better known as the Razzies, are a parody of the Oscars that recognise the year’s worst movies and performances.
The NWA rapper picked up the award for ‘Worst Actor’ on March 15th, beating Dave Bautista in In the Lost Lands, Scott Eastwood in Alarum, Jared Leto in Tron, and The Weeknd in Hurry Up Tomorrow.
War of the Worlds dominated the Razzies, winning ‘Worst Picture’ ahead of The Electric State, Hurry Up Tomorrow, Disney’s Snow White, and Star Trek: Section 31.
The film also won ‘Worst Screenplay’, ‘Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-off or Sequel’, and ‘Worst Screen Combo’.
Starring the likes of Cube, Eva Longoria, and Clark Gregg, War of the Worlds was released on Amazon Prime Video on July 30th via Universal Pictures.
The Rich Lee-directed movie is based on H G Wells’ 1898 novel of the same name. It follows a computer security analyst working for the US government when aliens attack.
During an interview with Kai Cenat last year, Cube revealed that War of the Worlds was made during the pandemic, without working alongside the director and his co-stars.
“It was a movie I did in 2020 during the pandemic,” he said. “We shot it in 15 days, and it was during the pandemic. So the director wasn’t in there. None of the actors was in there. This was the only way we could really shoot the movie.”
He added, “All the footage is from real surveillance cameras all around the world. So they had to build all that shit [and then collect and edit the footage].”
