50 Cent mocks Ice Cube over 0% Rotten Tomatoes movie
50 Cent has roasted Ice Cube over his new movie, War of the Worlds. It was released on Amazon Prime Video on July 30th and has received a 0% score on the review-aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes.
The film is based on HG Wells’ 1898 novel of the same name and stars Cube alongside Eva Longoria, Clark Gregg, Andrea Savage, and others.
Taking to Instagram on August 6th, 50 mocked Cube over the movie’s overall bad rating on Rotten Tomatoes. “0%, how you get a 0 percent rating,” he wrote. “Nah somebody mad at Cube. Now I’m scared to watch it LOL.”
However, producer Timbaland had an opposing view in the comments, writing, “It’s not that bad.”
Rich Lee directed the film, which was released via Universal Pictures. Lee is known for directing music videos for Eminem, The Black Eyed Peas, and other big-name artists. He’s also produced adverts for Beats by Dre, Hyundai, and other companies.
In the movie, Cube plays Will Radford, a computer security analyst working for the Department of Homeland Security, whose life is disrupted by an alien attack.
War of the Worlds received abysmal reviews from critics, with Rotten Tomatoes combining them for a 0% score on the platform.
Paul Mount of Starburst Magazine wrote, “War of the Worlds is a torturous, endless 90 minutes of glitchy video clips, military stock footage, glad-to-be-doing-something actors running through the street waving a camera in front of their faces and pretending to be scared.”
The Daily Telegraph‘s Ed Power added, “It is silly, shoddy and features far too much of rapper-turned-leading man Ice Cube staring at a computer screen while looking as if he’s working through a reasonably urgent digestive ailment.”
