Former N.W.A member Ice Cube is a legend in hip hop as one of the founding fathers of gangsta rap. So in an interview with The Art Of Dialogue podcast, when he was asked to name his top ten rappers, of course, fans were excited to see which names would make it on the list.
However, when the Compton rapper began to reveal the names, fans were taken aback when some lesser-known names appeared on the list.
Beginning his list, he told the hosts, “A great MC I believe who taught everybody that they needed to bring more style to they rhymes is KRS-One.” He continued, “another guy that is my favourite of all time who introduced consciousness on another level into rap and never waivered, and I give that to Chuck D. Another one is another trendsetter who is one of my OG’s, who helped the west coast get on the map is Ice-T”
Feeling as if he had all too quickly reeled off his top three, the rapper (real name O’Shea Jackson) pondered who else was on his list. He divulged, “Um….and you know after that….ummmm, there’s a few man damn! Snoop is one of my favourite rappers of all time, so is Biggie so is Jay-Z so is Nas….uhhhh, we got rappers like Ras Kass on the West Coast that’s crazy. Eminem one of the best that ever touched the mic and Lil’ Wayne goddamn, Lil’ Wayne is nasty!!!”
Feeling as if he could name so many more the rapper continued with a disclaimer as he stated, “It’s more than that, there’s so many great MCs, that list don’t mean anything there’s too many to name!” So to simplify it, here are Ice Cube’s top ten MCs.
