Grammys 2025: The hip-hop nominations revealed
It’s that time of the year again where hip-hop artists and fans across the world wait with baited breath to see who has been nominated for the most prestigious award in music, the coveted Grammys. This year, like every year is bound to cause heated debate yet as always it is incredibly exciting with some extraordinary artists seeing nominations.
This year we see some new names and some older more exciting nominations catcghing people’s eyes. Two legends of the 1990s who decided to team up earlier this year were Commonn and Pete Rock who’s project The Auditorium Vol. 1 has tallied not just one but two nominations, for ‘Best Rap Album’ and ‘Best Rap Performance’.
2024 has been an incredible year for St Louis producer Metro Boomin and his contributions have not gone unnoticed. In fact, his name appears in every rap category available and, this means he could potentially sweep the entire genre at the 67th Grammy awards.
Concerning R&B, many will be praying with all their heart that Donald Glover’s Bando Stone and the New World sees an award as the musician insisted it is his last body of work under the moniker Childish Gambino. However, he will have to contend with the potent Kehlani project, Why Lawd?, which sees Anderon. Paak and producer Knxledge join forces as NxWorries.
Despite all of the build-up and hysteria surrounding Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign’s Vultures 1, it has only received one nomination but would be a controversial win for the raunchy track ‘Carnival’. This year’s nominations are intriguing but could be frustrating for some.
