The one thing Future’s ‘rock star lifestyle’ has prevented: “That’s one of my dreams”
Future has remained one of the most influential artists since the early 2010s. Already one of the biggest Atlanta rappers of all time, Hendrix’s vocal style, combined with Auto-Tune, has inspired a whole generation, with his trap sound heard in music from stars like Gunna, Playboi Carti, and Juice WRLD, to name a few.
The 41-year-old has dedicated so much of his life to music and his fans that he’s missed out on some key moments in his personal life. Always on the move, Future is the father of seven different children to seven different mothers, born between 2002 and 2019. Still, settling down is something that is part of his plans, if the right person comes along.
“If I was married, at home with my kids, man, it’d be way different. That’s a life I never lived,” he told Billboard. “It’s something you dream about. That’s one of my dreams. It’s easy for other people, but for me, it’s just like, man, this rock star lifestyle, it don’t gel well.
“For even creating music, I just feel like I’m missing out on something if I don’t make the music a certain kind of way. I really dedicated my entire life to my fans. I dedicated my entire life to my music. Everything that I love, everything that I got, I put it in music. And the outcome is yet to be determined, still to this day.”
Despite admitting his work and fame get in the way of marriage, Future feels like it’s something he can balance in due course. He’s self-aware enough to know that if he rushed into a committed relationship, he could end up making the wrong decision. Also, the fact that he’s got kids from various relationships is something that could potentially hinder his search.
“I feel like I can have both,” he said. “When the time’s right, it’ll happen. It ain’t nothing that I’m really chasing. But I do dream of it, and I do want it. I swear I’d probably pick the wrong girl or something, if I was just chasing it. You never know how certain things happen with relationships and with love and getting married and being under the same roof as your kids and you got other kids that are not living with you.”
“That’s just a whole ’nother lifestyle that I haven’t even got a chance to live. But I understand that it’s something I would love, and when the time presents itself, then I know I’m going to be prepared. I want to make sure I just live that to the fullest. But I don’t really think about that shit, like having a wife and shit. But I want a wife. Everybody around me wants me to have a wife more than I want a wife.”
Late last year, he was rumoured to be dating German singer Donna Dafi. Before that, he had well-documented relationships with model Lori Harvey and rapper Dess Dior. His current relationship status is unknown, but hopefully, he’s finding time to fulfil one of his dreams.
