Future labels Kendrick Lamar diss “fucked up”
Future has revealed his confusion about Kendrick Lamar dissing Drake and J Cole on his record. K.Dot took aim at “the big three” on ‘Like That’, the number one single from the Atlanta rapper’s We Don’t Trust You album with Metro Boomin, earlier this year. But Future is claiming he’s the one who should be “mad” about his lyrics.
The ‘Turn on the Lights’ artist claims Lamar’s “motherfuck the big three, n-gga, it’s just big me” line is disrespectful to him, claiming the fact he wasn’t even put in the conversation should be a reason for him to act out. Still, he was “player” enough to let it slide.
“I’m supposed to be the one who gets mad; I’m still confused about that,” he told GQ. “Nobody cares what I think. That’s what was so fucked up about the shit. To the point where I’m so player that I ain’t even said anything to the public about how I feel about it. Like, why is everybody mad when he was talking about me on my song? So y’all just forgot about me, I ain’t part of this big three, I’m nobody on my song, man.”
Future added, “If I didn’t get mad, nobody should have gotten mad. If I would have been really mad about it and I made something out of it, then someone else could be like, ‘Oh, I can make something else about it.'”
The attention around Kendrick’s verse undoubtedly played a role in ‘Like That’ topping the Billboard Hot 100. The song has also been nominated for ‘Best Rap Song’ and ‘Best Rap Performance’ at the Grammy Awards in 2025.
Lamar and Future have collaborated in the past on songs such as the ‘Mask Off’ remix and ‘King’s Dead’ with Jay Rock and James Blake, as well as Mike WiLL Made-It’s ‘Buy the World’ alongside Lil Wayne.
Elsewhere in the interview, Future acted oblivious about there being any sort of feud between Drake and his We Don’t Trust You and We Still Don’t Trust You collaborator, Metro Boomin. Many assumed the albums were a direct diss towards Drizzy, but Metro denounced the idea.
“There was a beef? I didn’t even know there was a beef,” Future said. “I didn’t even know they had nothing going on. I ain’t never participated in rap battles, man.”
