Funk Flex defends Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs against Shyne
Former Bad Boy artist Shyne recently announced that he will release a Hulu documentary recounting his experiences working with Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs in the 1990s. The musician released an electrifying trailer to promote the tell-all project, hinting at a tell-all spectacle, and it’s fair to say it set the internet ablaze.
In the trailer, the rapper discusses manipulation, dirty deals, and deception and explains how he was “betrayed” by the mogul and “set up to be the fall guy” for the producer’s alleged crimes. However, the documentary’s trailer annoyed many people. One of those individuals was Hot 97.0 DJ Funkmaster Flex.
Funk Flex has been a prominent New York DJ since the 1990s and has witnessed the rise and fall of Bad Boy. Still, he doesn’t agree with Shyne’s analysis of why he got convicted of first-degree assault and suggested that Shyne showed some despicable behaviour long before the 1999 shooting that saw him get incarcerated.
On October 26th, during his radio show on Hot 97, Funk Flex decided to go on a rant and address everything that Shyne had insinuated in the trailer for his documentary. More specifically, the DJ dissected the rapper’s assertion that he was a victim.”
Hollering over the airwaves, the DJ began, “This has been bothering me for weeks. When somebody tries to say they’re the scapegoat or they was used, it has been bothering me. I’m gonna keep it a buck. Shyne, I love you, bro, and I know what you’ve been through. No, I don’t. But you’re a liar! You’re a stone cold faced liar, Shyne!”
The radio personality then began to recall some behind-the-scenes incidents that he believes led to Shyne’s downfall, beginning, “First of all, you remember when D Rock had to beat you up at that studio because you was feeling yourself?!”
He angrily continued, “You lucky you signed to Bad Boy ’cause if you did not sign to Bad Boy and you signed to Def Jam or anywhere else, they were gonna pound you out like the day they beat you up at that studio.”
Flex then went on to boldly assert that Shyne’s incarceration was valid and by extension, Diddy’s acquittal, stating, “You went to jail because you took out your gun because you were scared to get punched in the face by some dudes that you knew that were your people that you jerked.”
Although Shyne hasn’t been a rapper since the day he went to prison, Funk Flex still has a deep hatred for the former Bad Boy artist and concluded, ranting, “Shyne, you can’t lie with me around, bro. And I’m going to tell you something else, Shyne, if you hated Puff so much when he got the key to the city, you were in the trailer. Sucka. You’re a sucka. I can’t stand you. You got no guts!”
