Shyne claims he was “the fall guy” for Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is the centre of attention in hip-hop at the moment and everyone who he has fraternised with over the years are getting pulled into the psychodrama surrounding his ongoing legal case.
On September 16th, Combs was arrested in New York City and charged with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution. That said, ever since, allegations against the Bad Boy founder have been flooding in, which he categorically denies. However, Shyne has remained silent until now.
Shyne was a rapper in the early days of Bad Boy but was caught in the centre of enormous controversy when, in 1999, a shooting occurred in Manhattan’s Club New York. Both Combs and Shyne were present, and the recollections of that night are varied from both individuals.
The young, up-and-coming star was convicted of first-degree assault and sentenced to a decade behind bars, but after claiming he fired the gun in self-defence in 2001, Combs was acquitted on all charges.
Many questioned why the case ended how it did, but after the case, people moved on. However, in a new documentary about his life, Rapper-turned-politician Shyne alleges that he was a fall guy for the mogul who is now behind bars.
In the trailer for the upcoming Hulu documentary The Honourable Shyne, the emcee’s mother asserts, “he was betrayed.” Shyne echoed that sentiment and claimed, “I was absolutely set up to be the fall guy.” Following his release from prison, Shyne was deported from the US back to the nation from which he migrated, Belize.
During a press conference in his country about the Combs case, Shyne spoke to his character, telling the world, “When I was an 18-year-old kid, just wanting to do nothing other than make my mother proud and make Belize proud and be recognised for my talent and take over the world, I was defending him, and he turned around and called witnesses to testify against me. He pretty much sent me to prison.”
He added, “Let’s not lose sight of what the cold hard facts are. This is not someone who I vacationed with and someone who I enjoyed this great, intimate relationship of brotherhood. This is someone who destroyed my life, and who I forgave, and who I moved on.”
Although the emcee has forgiven Combs, people are struggling to find anything good to say about the mogul, considering what has been unearthed. However, The Honourable Shyne should provide more detail for fans.
