Fetty Wap announces first album since prison release
Fetty Wap has announced his first album since being released from prison.
The New Jersey rapper became a free man in January after serving three years on charges of conspiracy to possess and distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine.
On March 16th, Fetty revealed that his new album is titled Zavier and will be released on March 27th.
In a statement to Billboard, he said, “I’m just happy and grateful to be back and thankful that my fans didn’t forget about me. I’m so thankful to my family, fans and team for holding me down. This new music is a reflection of a new chapter in my life. I just want to bring back good energy and good vibes. I love y’all.”
Set for release on 300 Entertainment, Zavier includes 17 tracks, with song titles and potential features currently unknown.
Taking to Instagram, Fetty boldly claimed, “The last time the studio felt like this… I was making Trap Queen.”
Fetty also posted a trailer for the project that detailed his current mindset after spending years behind bars.
“When you lose the money everybody think that’s the worst part,” he said. “When it get real quiet that’s when it hit different. I got so used to hearing Fetty everywhere I go, before I even knew who Zavier was. Somewhere in all that, I became a character in my own life. People really loved what I could provide for real, not who I really was.”
The 34-year-old released his last album, King Zoo, in 2023. Fetty will be hoping to capture some of the success of his self-titled debut, which was released in 2015 and contained hits like ‘Trap Queen’, ‘My Way’, ‘679’, and ‘Again’.
