Eminem reveals he’s set to become grandfather
Eminem has revealed that he’s set to become a grandfather in the new music video for his track, ‘Temporary’.
The new video consists of home video footage, charting the touching relationship with his daughter Hailie Jade, who was born in 1995. It follows her life from childhood into adolescense and adulthood, culminating with her wedding which took place in May, 2024.
To round off the video, Hailie Jade presents Eminem a journey which has ‘Grandpa’ printed on the back, and also includes the number ‘1’. Hailie Jade also took to Instagram to share her excitement at becoming a mother, writing, “Mom & dad est. 2025”.
‘Temporary’ was a fitting choice of song to use as the soundtrack to share the joyous news. The track, which appeared on his most recent album The Death of Slim Shady, finds him rapping, “I’m watchin’ you right now, baby girl, I vow, I will protect you, your guardian angel.”
During an appearance on Mike Tyson’s Hotboxin podcast in 2020, Eminem explained how being a good father was more important to him than any musical achievement, saying of Hailie, “She’s made me proud for sure. She’s graduated from college.”
He continued: “When I think about my accomplishments, that’s probably the thing I’m the most proud of is being able to raise kids. It’s important to keep your kids grounded when they’re in a situation like I have, it’s very important. People also think, too, that money just buys happiness—that absolutely is not the truth. You’ve got to be right inside otherwise none of this shit means nothing.”
While Hailie is Eminem’s only biological child, he is also the adoptive-father to her two siblings and her cousin. They all grew up together in Em’s huge ranch on the suburbs of Detroit, which is still is home today.
Following the release of The Death of Slim Shady earlier this year, Eminem has asserted himself one again as one of the most-important figures in hip-hop. While the album has split opinion among fans, the album scored him yet another chart-topping record, and made him at the centre of the conversation in the hip-hop sphere.
As of yet, Eminem is yet to unveil plans to take the album on the road. However, he does have two shows pencilled in for December in Abu Dhabi and Bahrain, which suggests he will perform more live dates in the future.
