Eminem responds to Kid Rock addressing rapper’s support for Kamala Harris
Eminem has responded to fellow Detroit native Kid Rock, who recently took to social media to encourage Michigan residents to vote in the upcoming US election on November 5th. However, he made it clear that he disagrees with the ‘Lose Yourself’ emcee and is a supporter of Donald Trump, who Eminem is adamantly against.
Kid Rock made his point on Instagram, where he uploaded a video of himself playing the guitar and singing. However, during the video, he stopped and began to speak about Eminem, who recently appeared at a Kamala Harris rally in Detroit.
Speaking directly to the camera, the Devil Without A Cause singer stated, “Now that I have your attention, let me tell you, I love Eminem. We’ve been friends for many years. I don’t agree with his politics but I do give credit to him and people like Taylor Swift for standing up and not being afraid to be vocal for that which they believe.”
The musician then began to talk about free speech and the importance of independent thinking, explaining, “Thinking differently and having the freedom to do so is what makes this country great. My stance is unequivocally MAGA because I know in my mind, body and soul that President Trump will make America great again. God bless the USA.”
Em has been an avid anti-Trump campaigner since the businessman first ran for presidency in 2016 and didn’t address Kid Rock’s political video directly but decided to accept his position and turn his attention to the NFL, writing on X, “Here’s one thing Kid Rock and I do agree on… GO Lions!!!! Appreciate you, Bob.”
That said, this isn’t Kid Rock and Eminem’s first exchange about politics. In a 2017 interview with Vulture magazine, the Encore creator unveiled, “Me and Bob have been friends since way back in the day, but I haven’t spoken to him in a while. The last time I did was when the thing happened to his assistant.”
He continued, “I reached out and told him I was here for him. As far as the politics, I’m not up on what he’s doing. I couldn’t tell if he really wanted to run for senator or was just fucking around.”
Eminem’s pro-Harris speech at the Democratic Rally in Detroit was passionate. However, whether or not it will move the needle is yet to be seen. During his address, he told the crowd, “I’m here tonight for a couple of important reasons. As most of you know, the city of Detroit and the whole state of Michigan mean a lot to me. Going into this election, the spotlight is on us more than ever and I think it’s important to use your voice, so I’m encouraging everybody to get out and vote, please.”
