Eminem delivers powerful speech at Kamala Harris rally

Eminem appeared at the latest Kamala Harris rally in Detroit on October 22nd ahead of the upcoming US Election on November 5th. The local rapper spoke about how some people are afraid to express their opinions because they fear retribution while also confirming that he believes Harris will protect Americans’ freedom of speech.

Eminem took to the stage to introduce President Barack Obama, who held office between 2008 and 2016. The legendary lyricist started his speech by saying that he had chosen to come to the event for a “couple of important reasons.”

The Detroit native started his speech by saying, “As most of you know, the city of Detroit and the home state of Michigan mean a lot to me, and going into this election, the spotlight is on us more than ever.” He said, “I think it’s important to use your voice. So I’m encouraging everybody to get out and vote please.”

Em continued, “I also think people shouldn’t be afraid to express their opinions, and I don’t think anyone wants an America where people are worried about retribution, of what people will do if you make your opinion known.” He concluded by saying, “I think Vice President Harris supports a future for this country where these freedoms and many others will be protected and upheld.”

Obama’s speech after Eminem was quite light-hearted. He said, “I have done a lot of rallies, so I don’t usually get nervous. But I was feeling some kind of weight following Eminem.” Obama then proceeded to rap the lyrics to Eminem’s famous hit ‘Lose Yourself’. “I thought Eminem was going to perform and I was going to jump out,” he joked.

It shouldn’t be a surprise that Eminem appeared at the Harris rally, as the rapper has been very critical of Trump in the past. His lyrics in the track ‘The Storm’ were explicit, stating Trump was racist. “From his endorsement of Bannon / Support for the Klansmen / Tiki torches in hand for the soldier that’s black and comes home from Iraq,” he said.

Eminem hasn’t been the only celebrity to appear on Kamala Harris’s campaign trial. A number of different A-listers have turned up to her rallies to endorse the former Vice President, including Bruce Springsteen, who is scheduled to perform in Atlanta and Philadelphia in the coming weeks. The actor Bradley Whitford has also supported the Harris campaign, as has Julia Roberts.

The Presidential Election is set to take place on November 5th.
