Adam Sandler praises Eminem’s cameo in ‘Happy Gilmore 2’
Eminem is set to appear in Happy Gilmore 2, the sequel to the classic sports comedy film from 1996. Adam Sandler, who will reprise his role as the titular character in the movie, has praised the Detroit rapper for the scenes they filmed together.
Appearing on the The Dan Patrick Show, Sandler discussed his relationship with Em and revealed that he shot a considerable amount of material that could end up making the final cut. “Eminem was cool. He came by, he was great. I’ve known Eminem for a long time, he’s a great guy and he came in and was funny as hell,” he said.
Sandler continued: “I think we just hung out a day with Eminem and he just shot and shot and he was insane. He said a million things we can use and a million that we’re glad we have him on tape.”
Slim Shady previously worked with Sandler in the 2009 comedy film Funny People, starring as himself. His cameo in Happy Gilmore 2 was revealed in November, with a source telling The Sun that he was in New Jersey to film “top-secret” scenes for the feature, which is expected to arrive on Netflix in 2025.
“Em is a big fan of the original movie, and he was a total pleasure to work with,” an insider said. “He was just super low-key, he didn’t have a big entourage, and was just an absolute delight on set. He has good comedic acting skills. He’s playing a comedic role, and he really had fun with it.”
The source continued, “He flew in just for this the night before and left the following night. It was a one-day shoot. He has good comedic acting skills. He’s playing a comedic role, and he really had fun with it. He flew in just for this the night before and left the following night. It was a one-day shoot.”
As well as Em, Kid Cudi will also appear in Happy Gilmore 2, with the ‘Day N Nite’ rapper calling it a “dream” to be able to collaborate with Sandler, who played a big part in his childhood. The likes of Bad Bunny, NFL star Travis Kelce and Margaret Qualley are also set to star in the film.
