Eminem set to have ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ cameo: “He’s playing a comedic role”

Eminem is ready to return to the big screen with an acting role in Happy Gilmore 2, the sequel to Adam Sandler’s 1996 movie. Directed by Kyle Newacheck, the sports comedy film will see Slim Shady starring alongside Sandler, Christopher McDonald, Julie Bowen and Ben Stiller, who are reprising their original roles.

A source told The Sun that Eminem was in New Jersey last week to film “top-secret” scenes for the upcoming Netflix feature, which is expected to be released in 2025. “Em is a big fan of the original movie, and he was a total pleasure to work with,” the insider said. “He was just super low-key, he didn’t have a big entourage, and was just an absolute delight on set.”

Eminem’s appearance is said to be comedic, with the source giving high praise to his acting skills. Em is, of course, no stranger to acting, well-known for starring as James ‘Jimmy’ Smith Jr, otherwise known as B-Rabbit, in the 2002 semi-autobiographical film 8 Mile.

“He has good comedic acting skills,” the source said. “He’s playing a comedic role, and he really had fun with it. He flew in just for this the night before and left the following night. It was a one-day shoot.”

This isn’t the first time Eminem has worked with Adam Sandler. The Detroit rapper previously starred in the 2009 comedy-drama film Funny People as himself, appearing in an entire scene with Sandler. RZA also starred in the movie.

Hip-hop will be well and truly represented in Happy Gilmore 2, with Kid Cudi also set have a role in the upcoming film. He called it a “dream” to be able to collaborate with Sandler, who played a big part in his childhood.

“I’ve been wanting to talk about this for a minute!!! This is so fuckin huge,” the ‘Day ‘N’ Nite’ artist wrote on Instagram about securing the part. “Its been a long time dream of mine to work w Adam, hes my favorite, and his movies and comedy made up my childhood. Another dream come true. BLESSED!! Get ready, this ones gonna be EPIC.”

Another musician, Bad Bunny, as well as American football star Travis Kelce, who is famously in a relationship with Taylor Swift, are set to star in the film.
