Eminem allegedly pays $450,000 for Bored Ape NFT that resembles him

Bored Ape NFTs continue to storm the internet, and Eminem is the latest public figure to join the exclusive club.

The artwork was initially owned by Twitter user @Gee_Gazza, who broke the news to their followers that ‘Shady’ had made the purchase from him over the weekend. Since then, Eminem has gone on to make the image his profile picture on Twitter to the NFT, and more has now come to light about the rapper’s affectation for crypto.

Cryptocurrency news hub Decrypt has since found an OpenSea account linked to Eminem that shows he bought the digital Ape for 123.45 Ethereum, which converts to roughly $450,000 (£334,000). The site additionally discovered that @Shady_Holdings owns 15 NFTs.

@Gee_Gazza couldn’t hide their elation at selling the Ape to Eminem and posted, “I’m living in a simulation. Thank you @Eminem for buying my ape and joining the club! Madness. Let me write a lyric in your next single”.

Marshall Mathers isn’t the only rapper invested in the confusing world of NFTs, and Snoop Dogg has even built the interactive Snoopaverse with one collector recently paying $450,000 to become his virtual neighbour.

A couple of months ago, Snoop also revealed that he’d been secretly running the Twitter account, Cozomo de’ Medici, which was a big fish within the NFT community before he doxxed himself.
