Earl Sweatshirt forced to postpone tour due to surgery
Earl Sweatshirt has postponed his upcoming tour.
The Odd Future rapper was scheduled to hit the road this year with MIKE, but has suffered an injury.
As a result, they’ve postponed the upcoming North American shows in order for him to recover from surgery.
“Earl was injured, he will need surgery and a period of recovery before he is cleared to perform again,” a statement read. “As a result, his upcoming North American tour dates are being postponed. Earl is deeply sorry to move these shows and knows how much time, travel, and money fans put into being there.”
It continued, “Tickets will be honored for the rescheduled dates, which will be announced as soon as they are confirmed. Refunds will be available at point of purchase for anyone unable to attend the new dates. Thank you for giving him the space to recover properly. He is looking forward to seeing everyone as soon as he’s healed.”
The tour was scheduled to begin on June 9th in Riverside, California. The news comes just days after SXSW London revealed that he would be replaced by MIKE due to an “accident.”
“We’re very sorry to share that Earl Sweatshirt has met with an accident and is no longer able to perform at SXSW London,” they said earlier this week. “We’re sad that we won’t be able to welcome him to London this year, and we know that this will be disappointing to fans. His wellbeing must come first.”
They added, “Earl was due to perform as part of a wider Showcase at Shoreditch Town Hall on Tuesday evening. American rapper and collaborator MIKE will perform in his place.”
Earl and MIKE were touring in support of their collaborative album, POMPEII // UTILITY, which arrived in April.
