Earl Sweatshirt cancels London show at the last minute
Earl Sweatshirt has cancelled his London show at the last minute.
The Los Angeles rapper was set to perform at Shoreditch Town Hall as part of SXSW London on June 2nd, but has pulled out ahead of the concert.
A statement from the festival reads, “We’re very sorry to share that Earl Sweatshirt has met with an accident and is no longer able to perform at SXSW London. We’re sad that we won’t be able to welcome him to London this year, and we know that this will be disappointing to fans. His wellbeing must come first.”
They continued, “Earl was due to perform as part of a wider Showcase at Shoreditch Town Hall on Tuesday evening. American rapper and collaborator MIKE will perform in his place.”
MIKE’s appearance is fitting, considering Earl released a collaborative album with MIKE and Surf Gang, titled Pompeii // Utility, in April this year.
Although the reason for Earl’s absence is unclear, it’s not the first time an injury has been reported. In 2014, he suffered a severe meniscus tear while skating, requiring him to undergo surgery and recover indoors.
The incident took place before he made his acclaimed 2015 album, I Don’t Like Shit, I Don’t Go Outside.
For those who were planning to see Earl, he’ll be in the UK later this year on his Home on the Range Tour with MIKE. He’ll be playing O2 Forum Kentish Town on August 31st, with other UK dates in Glasgow, Nottingham, Bristol, and Brighton.
Earl released his last solo album, Live Laugh Love, in August 2025 via Warner Records. It served as the follow-up to Sick!, which arrived in 2022.
