Drugs and weapons seized from jail housing Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs

News about Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs continues to dominate the entertainment industry ahead of his criminal trial in 2025. Now, a story has emerged regarding another raid carried out in the Bad Boy founder’s New York prison, from which he has been denied bail over three times.

Following the recent involvement made by federal authorities, it has been confirmed that drugs, homemade weapons and electronic devices were seized, suggesting that the authorities may have acquired new evidence linked to Combs, although it’s unlikely.

Combs is being held in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Centre (MDC), which is currently under heavy scrutiny from the Bureau of Prisons as they lead an interagency sweep of the centre. The sweep is unrelated to Combs but has been “preplanned and coordinated to ensure the safety and security” of staff and inmates.

There have been many incidents in the MDC over recent years, and the 1,200-capacity jail saw two inmates stabbed over the summer. Five inmates were charged with murder as a result. Several detainees at the centre have been accused of assault, and even a guard was involved in an attack that saw a man knifed 44 times by gang members. One attacker used a makeshift icepick.

However, the MDC’s problems don’t end there. One officer was charged for shooting a vehicle during an illegal high-speed chase. These charges were merely only the tip of the iceberg of how dysfunctional and dangerous the facility is. It is currently home to Combs and Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder of the collapsed FTX cryptocurrency exchange.

The Bureau of Prisons said it wouldn’t provide additional details about what exactly investigators were doing there on Monday until the operation is complete. However, for a long time, inmates have complained about the rampant violence, inhumane conditions, severe staffing shortages and the widespread substance abuse that takes place inside.

Although an “interagency operation” into the MDC has been launched, it is still doubtful Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs will be released as the prosecutors still consider him to be a flight risk. He will remain in the MDC as it is the only federal detention centre in New York for those yet to go to trial.

US attorney for the Eastern District of New York released a statement about the investigation insisting, “Violence will not be tolerated in our federal jails. This should be a warning to those who would engage in criminal conduct behind bars, and anyone else who facilitates those crimes: your conduct will be exposed, and you will be held accountable.”
